Mere Court fundraising dinner
16.11.18 – Mere Court Hotel, Knutsford

A splendid event that was enjoyed by 80 revellers who all enjoyed a four course meal and five different glasses of wine. The meal ended with a passionate speech by Matt Rostron, CEO of London Youth Rowing and a quick game of heads and tails also raised a substantial amount of money – enough to take our young rowers on a trip to NJIRC in March 2019.

WYR annual end of year regatta
12.07.18 – Warrington Rowing Club

Coming together to celebrate the end of another successful year, a series of races took place on the river to showcase the rowers talents on the water. The categories and shield winners were:
Year 9 boys quads and doubles – University Academy Warrington
Year 9 girls quads and doubles – Cardinal Newman
Year 10 boys doubles and singles – Cardinal Newman
Year 10 girls doubles and singles – Sir Thomas Boteler

NJIRC – National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships
09.03.18 – Lee Valley Indoor Arena, London

Rowers from Beamont, Boteler, Cardinal Newman and Culcheth schools were selected to go down to NJIRC and compete for Warrington Youth Rowing.

Thanks to funds raised by WYR supporters at the 2017 Mere Court dinner, we were able to pay for all athletes to travel to London and back, as well as providing kit and a hot meal.

Travelling by train, an excellent day was had by all and one of the highlights was meeting Andy Triggs-Hodge, a triple Olympic gold medalist!

Another highlight of the day was WYR athlete, Ellie Kadir coming away with a bronze medal in the WJ14 category.

An incredible day of not only rowing but team bonding and sportsmanship too.
